ABOUT THE SCHOOLROOM

Badgworth Schoolroom is available for hire. The building is owned by the Badgworth Schoolroom Foundation a registered Charity whose Objects are education for children and adults both religious and secular, charitable purposes and as a meeting place for the village.

The building is a community venue, refurbished in 2016. It is situated just off of the A38 -only  a 5 minute drive from Axbridge, and 10 minutes from Cheddar, in the beautiful hamlet of Badgworth, Somerset.  The natural stone building dates back to the 1870’s  - the hall has a light, spacious feel and is ideal for parties, clubs, businesses, educational groups, arts and leisure activities and can be hired for regular or one of events.

There are two heated rooms for hire: main hall (9.2 x 5.2m) which seats 34, and a smaller room off the main hall (4.3m x 3.3m).There is also a spacious kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge (this is for the provision of refreshments prepared off site and brought in) . Tables, chairs, glasses, crockery and cutlery are also available at no extra cost to the Schoolroom hirer . If you live in the village they may be hired separately. The hall has full disabled access including toilet and washroom facilities.

In addition we have free WiFi available for hirers and a small outside area with car parking off the road. Next to the car park is a grassed space with a small children’s play area. It is possible to erect small marquees in this area for an additional hire charge.

Above the play area is the Jubilee Field owned by the Parish Council with 2 full size goal posts. This field can also be hired separately through the Schoolroom. A Management Committee formed by volunteers from the village are elected to look after the day to day running of the Schoolroom. The Committee has grown from a Village Group formed in the early 1970’s to save the Schoolroom as a Community facility when the Village School closed down. The Schoolroom running costs are funded by income from bookings, fund raising activities and donations.
